Smt. Manini Naik

Smt. Manini Naik and her husband Mr. Jagbandhu Naik were daily wage laborers in the nearby Hatchery unit ran by a private enterprise. They earned Rs. 100 per day and ran their household with this money. They were in possession of 6 goats and in the past sold these at quite high age believing that this brings high value. Both of them had to go through a lot of drudgery and discomfort due to labour work but had no other option.
With the intervention of NYDHEE, both of them received regular Orientation and training on Livestock management and above all how to convert simple goat rearing into a business venture. They understood the importance of selling the goat in the right intervals so as to have a regular source of income. Following the technical as well
as management guidance of NYDHEE staff on managing their goats, they started selling their goats at correct time and earned regular income. Accumulating this money (nearly Rs. 50,000/-) they purchased a second hand holler and started paddy husking for the villagers on daily basis thus earning Rs. 250 per day.
Presently, they are fully involved in livestock business as well as paddy husking and now possess nearly 12 goats. They have stopped going for daily labour and now earn their livelihood working from their home. Both Mr. and Mrs. Naik have realized the importance of putting efforts in one’s own venture rather than being dependent on other sources.
