Promotion of Community Resource Persons (CRPs) for Sustainable Livelihoods and increased access to mainstream programs of ultra-poor households funded by Asia Initiatives

The project aims to create income earning opportunities at the village level and increase the access of ultra-poor households to mainstream programs through promotion of Community Resource Persons (CRPs). These will preferably be women with the aim of empowering them with knowledge and skills. Two categories of CRPs are proposed for the said objective. The project aims at empowering women with knowledge and skills with respect to livestock, agriculture and mainstream development programs for wage employment and welfare schemes. All of these contribute for the economic empowerment of women thus helping them come out of poverty. The USP of the project is the “pass on the gift” concept where the project beneficiary helps other ultra-poor households rise out of poverty by gifting one of the goats/ poultry after one reproduction cycle. This not only helps in scaling up the project through ripple effect but also promotes accumulation of social capital credits within the community.

The following is the SoCCs menu-

  1. Awareness of people on Goatery- how to prepare the shelter, take care to prevent diseases, identify symptoms of diseases, proper feeding etc.
  2. Awareness of people on poultry
  3. Treatment of diseases of poultry and goat
  4. Vaccination of poultry and goat
  5. Ensuring access to social security and other government schemes to the entitled families
  6. Training on organic farm practices
  7. Promotion of Nutrition garden

Achievements under SoCCs project:

  • 100% beneficiaries have earned redemption points

150 beneficiaries have received 10 pre-vaccinated poultry chicks

150 beneficiaries have received a female goat

300 beneficiaries have received Nutri Garden kits
